This is a professional high-quality print of the original painting I created using a contemporary pointillist style.
The painting style is dots: a painting begins with a dot and ends with a dot. When finished, a painting includes anywhere from twelve to eighteen layers of dots. Painting in this style allows me to explore how everything on the earth is connected. It’s much like painting atoms floating around to mingle with other atoms.Everything touches: everything is connected.
Landscapes are my 'go to' source for paintings as they touch me deeply just as landscapes often touch everyone as places we love. We each experience landscapes in different ways: my paintings usually share a sense of intimacy rather than panoramic views. So a stand of trees or a patch of flowers catch my interest and allow me to share joy, light and harmony on my canvas.
Paintings happen in my studio: sourced from photos during walks in the woods or from moments I simply remember. Paintings happen, too, when I sit in front of a new canvas and simply begin to describe what comes to mind: this often seems like places I remember but have never seen.
My artwork is not about replicating realistically i a photographic way: an actual landscape, a place, is simply departure point for painting as interpretation evolves through patterns and colours and light.
My passion for landscapes relates to a time when I was very young and could wander through the woods and along streams to endlessly explore and discover. Trees were very much my friends back then and still are today.
